Invented players, invented games. Nothing here is real, and the whole database is rebuilt from scratch on demand.

4TH exists to get four people onto a padel court. We ask for the least that makes that work, we do not sell anything to anybody, and there is no advertising on this app.

What we hold

Your first name, and a last name if you give one. Your phone number. Your email address, if you create an account. A password, stored hashed — we cannot read it. Optionally a profile picture, your level, your tournament ranking and your preferred side. And the games you post or join, with their scores and the ratings players give each other.

Why we need it

The phone number identifies you and lets an organiser reach you before a game — it is also what stops one person filling the app with games nobody plays. The email is how we tell you a game changed. Everything else is there to help the right four people find each other.

Who can see it

Players in a game see the first names of the others in it. A club whose court you played on sees that you played there and can reach you by phone, but never your email address. Reports about another player go only to us, never to the club or the player reported. Nobody else sees anything.

Where it is kept

On a server in Germany, rented from Hetzner. Email is sent through Resend. Both are processors acting on our instructions and neither uses your data for anything of their own.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. Delete it and your name, phone, email, password and picture go immediately. Games already played keep their scores and their players — they belong to the other three people too — with your name replaced by a placeholder.

Cookies

One, called 4th_player. It is how the app knows which games are yours, and it is the only reason you can join a game without creating an account. It is strictly necessary to provide the service, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss. No tracking cookies, and no Google Analytics or any other third party watching you here. We do count visits, and the next section says exactly how.

Counting visits

We count how many pages are opened and roughly how many people opened them, because otherwise we cannot tell a quiet week from a week nobody heard about. It uses no cookie and nothing is sent to anybody else. Your address is used to work out a token standing for "the same person today" and is then discarded — it is never stored. That token is mixed with the date, so it changes at midnight and there is no way to follow you from one day to the next, by us or by anyone who reads the table. We also keep the site that sent you, if there was one — instagram.com, say — and never the full link.

Your rights

You can see what we hold on your account page, change it there, and delete the whole account whenever you like. You do not need to ask us or explain why.
